Sales are so much easier if you can talk to the top person in the company. But it’s not always that easy selling to CEOs. If you want to learn how to talk to them and sell to them, listen up. Do you want to shoot high? Why is this important? Well, if you can get hold of the main decision maker, your sale will progress so much faster. But it’s not easy. Here are some of the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way to get hold of these people.
Firstly, don’t come across as awkward, uncomfortable or too salesy because these people can sense that you are probably not at the top of your game and they will just stop or block you or just say, ‘Look, I don’t have the time. Talk to somebody else in the company.’ Come across as really professional. I would strongly recommend learning good speaking and public speaking skills. We do have a course on impromptu speaking if you want to learn how to get to the point quickly and fast because that will definitely help you to speak with CEOs and executive board members.
The next thing is to try to connect with them. These people normally do not work a lot on their emails and communicating with people over deals. So if you go personally onto their platform and ask them to connect with you and you do get that connection, please don’t try to sell them in that first connection. Just leave it and keep updating your social media platforms with a video like this or with comments and wait for them to comment or gently just send them something and say, I would love to have a quick ten-minute conversation to see how we can help your company to excel.
